Oliver inspired

September 15, 2010

This owl is my daughter’s new attachment. Let’s just say the start of preschool was an adjustment for her, but this little owl helped her get excited about school. “Oliver” is the preschool mascot, he takes turns traveling to each child’s home.  Eva was devastated when she wasn’t the first one to take Oliver home, but three weeks later it was her turn. She kept telling me “You said I would have a turn.” I wish I had a picture of her smile when she walked out of preschool that day.

Oliver is from Build-A-Bear and all his clothing and books were in his original box, which was breaking. I had seen this tutorial for this cute backpack awhile ago from Tiny Seamstress. Now Oliver has a new bag for all his stuff.

I was also a little worried about how she was going to “give up” Oliver after his stay at our house, so I made her a shirt to wear to school that day. All went well, no tears, and she now looks forward to seeing Oliver at preschool!

What a creative idea – both the backpack and the owl shirt!
